Unit Three Gallery is celebrating the nature of our beautiful area for its summer exhibition. They have invited artists from Dumfries and Galloway to exhibit works that use the wildlife of Galloway as their inspiration. Works include exquisite linocuts from Lisa Hooper, intricate illustrations from Little Dot Creations, photographic prints, woodcraft, meticulous but gentle pictures often with a whimsical twist from Dennis Mccallum and lovely fused glass pieces from KGR Glass Designs. There will also be clever wicker sculpture from Trevor Leat later in the exhibition. This exhibition is running in conjunction with the RSPB reserve at the Crook of Baldoon, a special place very close to Unit Three in Bladnoch.
We have been delighted to be able to run an art competition in the run up to the exhibition opening with the prize fund of £100 being donated by the RSPB. The work of the competition winners in both categories will be displayed in the gallery for the duration of the exhibition and all works from the runners up will be shown on the gallery website. The Nature of Galloway exhibition runs from the 12th July to the 28th August and entry is free. The gallery is open from 10am–4om on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and from 12noon–4pm on Saturdays, with other times by appointment.
