Day of the Region returns to Dumfries and Galloway this month, with an exciting and varied programme of free events and activities organised by communities across the region.
Activities this year include live music, a fun run, village tug-of-war, an outdoor film screening, an LGBT Pride celebration, community BBQs, circus skills workshops and crafting demonstrations. There will also be a big increase in activities for young people this year to celebrate ‘2018 Year of Young People’. A number of youth theatre groups will also take part to create links across the region and showcase their talents. Day of the Region provides an important opportunity to celebrate and animate rural communities in Dumfries and Galloway and gives vital support to local ‘grassroots’ and community-led initiatives. The event is a strategic project by Dumfries and Galloway LEADER Local Action Group (LAG) and has been delivered in the region every year since 2011. These events are free to attend and participate in, so everyone can get involved in their local celebrations or take an opportunity to visit a neighbouring community. Find out more.
