More information here. Image by Galina Walls From Frankenstein’s monster to the future of AI and from outer space to the inside of the brain, The Big Bang Weekend explores the mechanics of life. The arts, literature and science event, in Wigtown from 2-4 February, will be an inspiring and entertaining mix of talks by leading scientists and authors, plus comedy, music, film, cabaret, food and drink.

To help shape the festival’s artistic vision and content, organisers have invited 8 members of the community to help galvanise one of their event spaces and populate it with local performers and musicians from across Dumfries and Galloway. Sean Moore, James Henderson, Martin McKeown and Katriona Bailey, Angie Briggs, Lyn Cuddihy and Orla Barry Stairmund – aka, L.O.K.A – have programmed the festivals ‘Free Fringe’ event, which takes place in their new event space – The Container Theatre.
