Building on the success of their Older Artists' Labs, Luminate Scotland are delighted to announce the launch of two brand new bursaries to support older artists in their professional development and to make new work.
Both bursaries are open to artists aged 50 or over who have recently embarked on a new artistic career, including those who have trained at a young age and have returned to their practice later in life, those who have worked in the arts in different capacities and are now changing direction, and those who have come new to their artform in their later years.
Luminate has a series of bursaries of between £500 and £1,000 to support emerging older artists in their professional development. These bursaries can support artists to learn new skills, undertake mentoring, coaching or professional training, or travel – in the UK or further afield – to build networks or attend conferences.
And in partnership with the Saltire Society, Luminate is offering one bursary of £2,000 to support an older artist in the early development of a new creative idea. This might support time in a studio and materials to create new work, a residency to afford the time and space to work on a new project, or collaboration with a dramaturg or choreographer and actors or dancers to workshop a new piece.
