Creative Dumfries and Galloway at Royal Highland Showcase 2021 (D&G RHS 2021) - DG Unlimited has teamed up with partners to bring a flavour of our region's creative sector to the RHS 2021.
Honorary Royal Highland Agricultural Society Scotland President Fiona Armstrong, Lord Lieutenant of Dumfries & Galloway, has been working hard with her team from across Dumfries and Galloway to make the most of the global opportunities offered as the host region of the RHS 2021. While Covid restrictions mean the public cannot physically attend the event (at The Royal Highland Centre, Ingliston, outside Edinburgh from 14-20 June), the latest technology will stream the show right into people’s living rooms throughout Scotland and around the world.
D & G's RHS is focused on 5 key themes highlighting the best of rural life across the region; Farming, Countryside, Coast, Food & Drink and Culture. With the support of The Holywood Trust, and in partnership with Dumfries & Galloway College and Wigtown Festival Company, DGU is pleased to shine a light on the work of its members, D & G's emerging and established creative practitioners and partner organisations working to champion and support those involved in creative activities across our region:
Wigtown & Moat Brae Childrens Writing Competition

Free to watch, the event is live streamed and on demand from the comfort of your armchair. As part of Fiona Armstrong's President's Initiative, there is coverage of the creation and installation of a 12-foot, one-tonne wicker Beltie bull, hand sculpted in Dumfries and Galloway by local artist Trevor Leat; a mural painted on the famous underpass in and out of the Ingliston showground arena, a collaboration between OutPost Arts, of Langholm, and Edinburgh artists Ross Blair (aka Trench-One) and Brian McFeely (aka Elph); and 6 specially commissioned films, including "Discover the art of Dumfries & Galloway".
